Energizing Ginger Drink

Those days I was quite busy with studying. To make sure I can handle the stress, I prepared an energizing ginger drink. For those who don’t know, ginger is the rhizome of the plant Zingiber officinale, consumed as a delicacy, medicine or spice.
Ginger root maintains the gastric and abdominal metabolism, provides cure in sickness and diarrhea, gives a light and stress-free feeling. Ginger tea benefits cannot be neglected in the segment of cancerous cure and tumor treatments. The positive effect of this tea in Ovarian and colon cancer has been proved. Also, ginger tea benefits are well-known in flu, viral and headaches and it’s used to strengthen immunity.

The other ingredients from this drink sustains the main effects of ginger. German chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla) is used in herbal medicine for a sore stomach, irritable bowel syndrome, and as a gentle sleep aid. It is also used as a mild laxative and is anti-inflammatory and bactericidal. Some of lemon (Citrus limon) benefits are: blood cleanser, diuretic, nerve tonic, reducing high blood pressure, kidney stones.  I only want to mention that honey has many health benefits and I will write a special article about it,  in the near future.

Ingredients:

a small peeled and grated ginger root
one juicy lemon
3-4 teaspoons honey
500 ml chamomile tea

How it’s Made?

First make the chamomile infusion. Boil 500 ml water and add the chamomile flowers. Wait 15 minutes and strain.  I used tea bags, because I had a bug invasion last month so I lost my Matricaria flowers. Very small red worm-like bugs. Awful.

When it’s almost cool put 8-10 tablespoons of tea in a bowl. Add the ginger root and the lemon juice and put it in the fridge for about 30 minutes.

After the 30 minutes have passed, add honey and the rest of tea and mix until the honey dissolves.
