We have a few days in April and we should take advantage of them. For those who don’t know, April is the Garden Month, which encourages for planting, growing, and spending time creating a beautiful, healthy and productive environment. In the following article I suggest you five plants that should be present in your garden.
Sage leaves are a popular poultry and meat seasoning. They can be used both fresh and dried. Sage also makes a nice tea. The leaves and branches are often featured in crafts, like wreaths.
Mint has a lovely presence in the garden. The strong smell deters some insects and will refresh and invigorate your morning stroll around the garden. Mint can be used in herbal teas, added to hot chocolate or cocktails, and made into a traditional mint sauce.
Basil can be used in cooking, generally added at the end to keep its fresh taste and color. It can also be used fresh in salads, on sandwiches or even as a wrap, for instance around cheese cubes.
4. Thorny Roses
Just in case a thief is well versed in one of your herbs, you might want to try planting thorny roses around the edge of your plot to keep people out. It looks pretty and creates a barrier for your plants, which might discourage people from trying to climb in and nab your plants.
Strawberries are an easy to grow fruit crop that will reward the home gardener with ample harvests for many years. You can get amazing fruits, make pies or other kind of delicious desserts.
