Nifty Food: Ceriman

As one of my followers (rawfooddiaries) suggested, here is a very peculiar fruit. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen the plant before, but never had the occasion to see the fruit.

Monstera deliciosa Fruit

Ceriman (Monstera deliciosa) is commonly grown for interior decoration in public buildings and as a houseplant. It flowers about three years after it’s planted, but flowering is rare when grown indoors. It has a fruity taste similar to jackfruit and pineapple.

  1. You always feature the most interesting ingredients, most of which I’ve never even seen! So fascinating to see these new things from other parts of the world.

  2. The first thing that came to mind was it looked like jackfruit. I love jackfruit. I’ve never seen this before. Wow! I learned something today. Thanks for sharing, Adrian.

    1. You’re lucky that you’ve seen jackfruit before and had the occasion to try it.:) I’ll keep my eyes wide open. Maybe I’ll see these weird fruits at the supermarket.
